Advent 16
Yesterday we had a "wrapping-christmas-presents" marathon. I didn't know we had bought so many presents until we put them in the suitcase and they filled it all! Where are we going to put all our clothes? I don't know, we'll be needing all our coats and jumpers for the cold in England.

Lots of pink for todays pic! I don't particularly like to eat gingerbread but I think the gingerbread houses look very nice! Hope you're having a nice Christmassy time :)

Cuddly cute creatures
Almost 2 years ago after lots of soul searching and meditating about my life and stuff, I realised that what I wanted to do with my life was to draw. I didn't know if I was any good at it and I didn't feel very comfortable with my drawings, but I just felt so happy doing cards for any occasion for my family and some friends. Then I went to Paperchase for the first time in my life and I realised that I wanted to see my drawings in every format and that drawings didn't need to be realistic but expressive and with personality.
After that, I did lots of searching on illustration, illustrators, how to become one, tutorials, etc! Finding Illustration Friday has been amazing for my self- training and also to discover artists that inspire me and influence me. Through IF I found the print and pattern blog, and through it I discovered the Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design
I decided to enrol in the ABSPD after seeing all the beautiful patterns showcased at the end of each module. The course didn't disappoint and because of all the nice things we learned, I've have got more confidence about my designs and I've got 2 of my illustrations showcased in the Moyo Magazine!!! Whoop, whoop!
This is the collection I designed for the Module 2 showcase. The collection is called "Cuddly Cute Creatures" and features cats, dogs, foxes and more cats. They chose to show my "I ♥ my onesie" pattern for the student's showcase. Here's the blog post I did about it.
Anyway, I though this design was a perfect match for this week's IF word: Pattern

Advent 10
We've been having very sunny days lately here in HK. Nonetheless I can feel the Christmas spirit in the air and I'm hoping to have a white Christmas over the UK.

Christmas cards
This are the Christmas cards I did for my friends and family this year. I felt very drawn to blue for this designs but I still think it looks very Christmassy :) I printed them in my home and put some glitter for good measure.
This is my favourite card, I think the contrast between the background and the robins is very nice.

Advent 7
Today we celebrate the dÃa de las velitas (day of the candles) in Colombia. At night time everybody will be lighting up candles and paper lanterns and having fun. I remember walking down my old neighbourhood and seeing all the colourful candles in front of every house, that's a picture I'd like to remember forever.

Threadless contest
This week I'm participating in a contest with my design of "foxes in love", I think it looks quite cute in the baby onesies. You can have a look at my design in this link http://www.threadless.com/designforkids/foxes-in-love/ - you could also vote for it (if you like it) I'd really appreciate it. Thank you :)
Advent 5
Do you get/give many presents at Christmas? I love buying presents for my friends and family - it's actually one of my favourite things to do - I also receive quite a few presents, mostly cats and art related. But without a doubt, giving is what gives me the most happiness!

Illustration Friday - Refrain
My favourite season of the year has to be spring because it's not too cold nor to hot, the days are longer and the colours return to the landscape in the shape of flowers and animals. I know it's winter time in many countries so I hope my illustration brings some colour to your day.

Advent 1
In my home country -Colombia - we don't have Advent Calendars, unfortunately. It's such a good idea to have a countdown to Christmas and to have a chocolate while counting. So this year I'm going to post an advent picture everyday- I'll also eat a chocolate - I'll do my best to stick to it until Christmas. Here's day 1

Monkeys just wanna have fun!
We're been having wonderful weather here in Hong Kong so I decided to do something I've been thinking about for a long time which was to take some monkeys I bought in Thailand to the beach.
They were very happy because they haven't been to the beach before and even though they're very small they weren't scared of the sand or the sea.
We bought these monkeys in a Gibbon Rehabilitation Project in Phuket, Thailand. They're doing a very nice job of Rescuing, Rehabilitating and Reintroducing Gibbons into the wild. Gibbons were almost made extinct by poachers in Phuket, but now they're being care for by the GRP.
If you ever go to Thailand please don't have your pictures taken with Gibbons or any other wild animals. Remember that poachers have killed their mothers and have destroyed their families. Let's enjoy the animals in their natural habitat doing whatever monkeys, elephants, dolphins do and not dancing or wearing clothes or make up.

Something you bought
We're getting into the christmas spirit round my house so I bought reindeer antlers for my cat. Needless to say, she doesn't like them nor wear them. This is a drawing for #doodleadaynov
