Today is "el día de las velitas" (which translates to day of the candles), one of my favourite festivals from my home country: Colombia. At night people light up colourful candles in front of their houses and chitchat with the neighbours, maybe sharing Christmas biscuits and a little bit of apple wine. When I was little people used to have fireworks as well but many children had accidents, so nowadays people go to big fireworks displays organised by the local authorities. They have a big event in a small town called Villa de Leyva with lots of fireworks which I hope to go to one day.
