Lettering for Christmas cards - new video

Hi everyone - like every Thursday, today I have a new video on my YouTube channel. In this video I'm going to show you how I created the lettering for the Christmas cards I designed this year to send to my friends and family.

Until a few years ago, I'd never even considered buying Christmas cards because that's not traditional in my home country. When I was little I'd help my mum to make birthday cards using white ink on tracing paper, but we never had Christmas cards.

Christmas has always been my favourite holiday of the year, so now that I'm a designer I enjoy the process of creating cards for my loved ones. I've also grown to love going to the post office and I think that in this era of virtual things, it's very personal to handwrite a note or a message on a card that I designed.

I hope you enjoy the video! And please subscribe to my channel :)

These are the cards I designed!

Long pins for Pinterest - tips

For a long time I've heard about the popularity of long pins for Pinterest so I decided to group in long pins some illustrations I've done over the last months. Here're the first 2 pins with the fairy tale illustrations I've been doing. In case you're interested, the measurement that you have to take into account when creating the pin is 328 PX wide and it can be as long as you want. I wrote the topic of the illustrations at the top together with my website so people can find my designs.
Let me know if you're on Pinterest because I'm looking for new boards to follow. Happy pinning!

Creating a Christmas Illustration

Hi guys, I have a new video about creating a Christmas illustration, from getting inspiration to brainstorming concepts and designing. I really hope you watch it and that you subscribe to my channel. I'll be uploading a new video every THURSDAY from now on.

Here's a peek of the design I created :)

Prince frog

Who wouldn't want to kiss this charming prince? Besides his good looks he owns his own palace, he has a formidable sized swamp where you can take luxury baths and where there's plenty of flies to eat all year round.

Elves

I'm loving working on this round of Animal Alphabets (an illustration challenge on twitter #animalaphabets). Fairy tales are such a fun topic to illustrate and I also like reading the stories again and again. My favourite stories happen in the forest and have an element of kindness to them.  What are your favourite fairy tales?

Cat and Parrot

It's Friday and it means it's colour collective time. This week's colour is May Green. I must admit I had a little bit of a mental block before doing this illustration but I kept on sketching and doodling until an idea came to my mind. Have a great weekend everyone!

Bye bye October

This is what I was up to in October. Happy to add a few new pieces to my portfolio :)

Now on Youtube too...

I've decided to open a Youtube channel where I hope to share a little bit of my life as a freelance illustrator, what it's like living in HK, travelling and speed-painting videos, maybe tutorials?... I don't know, I'm not sure about the content yet because I had the idea while having insomnia + migraine + jetlag so I'm trying to figure things out. Many people have asked me about my painting process so my first video is of speed-painting the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz for Animal Alphabets. Hope you like it and I'll try share another video soon!
PS. Let me know your suggestions for videos.

Here's the video....

New painting challenge

I've decided to start my own painting challenge with the hashtag #10daysofacrylics. I know there're lots of challenges out there but I'm not strong enough to do something for more than 10 days, let alone 365! I'm dusting off my acrylic paints and experimenting with colours and textures. So far the end results have been a little unexpected but in a fun way. Feel free to join me in this mini challenge using the hashtag #10daysofacrylics (on instagram, facebook and twitter) :)
